I found the ear syringe to be helpful too, but squirting is a little
too forceful for me so I just fill the syringe and let it "dribble"
gently. The formula I was given by a friend for sinus infections was
to add some hydrogen peroxide (the disinfecting strength) and some
Alkalol to the water. The lavage thing does help me get the upper
hand on sinus infections, but I must admit I don't resort to it unless
I'm really desperate, because a foreign substance of any kind in my
sinuses, acute infection or not, hurts like the very fires of hell!!
