Dear List,
After a long search I finally found a hardcopy of Mozart's Zaide,
which contains the wonderful aria Ruhe Sanft. But: this version (1917
(!), Breitkopf) has entirely different lyrics than the ones I already
knew. Ruhe Sanft mein holdes Leben etc. is now Ruhe Sanft, der in mein
Leben selig schöne Traüme mir gebracht... etc.
Can anyone tell me why there seem to be two versions of this aria? (It
would be nice to do the less-known version!)
The melody and (piano) accompaniment is not allthat different,
although a little shortened.
