Agreed! Having heard her live many times, I would never characterize Ameling
as "mosquito voiced" either. It's certainly not a huge voice and has a
quality of fragility to it, but she made every bit as much sound as, say,
Barbara Bonney. Even her pianissimo could easily float up to the highest
"nosebleed seats" in Carnegie Hall. (BTW, I've heard both singer live in the
same halls.)
