Well, it looks as if I am changing fachs. I have been a lyric mezzo for the
past two years. My voice teacher says that my voice is definitely going up
and that I am soprano because I have lost some of the bottom notes that I
had and have gained some top (I have always had a strong high soprano C). My
upper middle register is getting stronger, too. I recall reading on Vocalist
that a fach is as much psychological as vocal. I can understand that now
because I have to get used to the idea that the mezzo rep I always thought
I'd get to will not be suitable for my voice anymore. I also have to get
used to the idea of the wonderful soprano rep that is opening up to me! I
will keep all of you posted on my fach adjustment.
