Dre is referring to Da Ponte's mistress who supposedly had the habit of
raising her chin for the high pitches and lowering it for the low ones.
Mozart, who would not have chosen her for the role of Fiordiligi in Cosi
fan tutte, wrote the aria Come scoglio to display her awkward performing
style. It all sounds apocryphal to me, but can you imagine what a hay day
he would have had with Ceclia Bartoli? Have a great Monday while I'm
still grilling out on Sunday!
