Hello,
I'm a bit concerned about a couple of things that have been going on in my abdomen lately. First of all, I began noticing a small, squishy, roundish mass just above my belly-button about six months ago. It seems to go away if I push in on it. Sometimes when I'm singing I become 'aware' of it, although I wouldn't quite say it hurts. I went to see a doctor a few months ago about it, but he couldn't feel it with his palpitations. It seems to have gotten slightly larger over a period of time.
Then these past couple weeks I have begun noticing something a bit lower down, just above my pubic region (being clinical here) on the right side. At first I noticed the odd twinge as I was singing, then once or twice I felt something when not singing. Just today as I was practicing I began to feel some real pain in this lower area, went to the bathroom to check it out, and now have what appears to be a small protrusion.
Other things that might be relevant: I've put on some weight in the past year and a half or so, and I haven't been exercising as much as I used to (sorry!). Also, I'm less aware of these things when I have done some calisthenics (including sit-ups) before singing.
I first started noticing the original one (above the bellybutton) at the start of this school year. I took the second part of the summer a bit 'easy,' vocally, compared to my usual, mostly just warming up every day, and maybe singing through some music, but nothing too strenuous. I took a few days off here and there, too. (Hey, I figured it was time for a bit of vacation.). Could I have done something injurious when I was getting back into the swing of things?
I'm really worried about this, and I'd appreciate any responses. Thanks!!
-John
