Dear Molly and List,
What happened to you is OK Molly- embarrassing, but no big deal. When I was singing for Richard Miller a few years back(Un aura amorosa from Cosi) I cracked like a rooster on one of the high As. We just laughed it off and Miller said, "wow wasn't THAT pretty!" Also, cracking can often be a good sign in the long run because it shows that your voice was not 'locked-up.' Many professional singers would crack a lot if they didn't hold on so tightly. My voice teacher is happy when his students crack. The great Caruso cracked for the first six years of his career- in performance after performance. People nicknamed him "the broken tenor." Well, that broken tenor turned out to be one of the greatest voices in history. If the fact that you cracked destroys opinions of your singing in the eye's of you friends- then perhaps they are not real friends.
Take Care All,
