Hello all!
I trust everyone has recovered from the eating over the holidays! And
look, we all survived Y2K. Ha.
I was just given a term paper to work on (it is due Jan 17th), in a
Romantic History course. The topic should be an ongoing one, as we have to
write 3 papers, not necessarily on the same topic, but maybe at least on a
related one. I am really interested in Dvorak's music, along with the
integration of aspects of folk music romantic works (as an offshoot of
nationalism?) and was thinking I could do something along this line. I know
that Brahms wrote Hungarian Dances, and Grieg wrote many pieces in a
Norwegian vein, and of course Dvorak's Slavonic Dances.
Another option would be to concentrate on Eastern European Romantic
music, or Scandinavian Romantic Music, or themes like that.
Any ideas out there? I am also really interested in the church music of
the time, and of Dvorak, particularly the Te Deum. Does anyone know how I
might approach a topic with what I have given? Any help will be greatly
appreciated and thanks in advance.

David
