Being in this business is hard - During "Master Class", Patti Lupone used to
say "Show business SUCKS!" - and well, sometimes it does. You never know why
someone made a casting choice that you will NEVER understand. You just have
to go on blind faith that the powers-that-be were doing what they thought
best for the production, no matter how skewed (in our opinion) that criteria
may have been.

That said, you have 2 choices - either learn to deal with it or get out. If
singing is your greatest passion, and you could not be happy in any other
career, you will find a way to live with this without destroying your
self-esteem. If, however, you would be happier being in control of your own
destiny, find another career.
Sometimes - even though I have made a pretty good living almost solely as a
performer for the past 15 years, there have been times when I wish I had gone
to Law School. But, then I get in front of an audience - and - well, just try
and stop me!
