Hello List,

A good friend of mine is considering becoming a wedding singer. She lives
in the Los Angeles area, has a classical background but doesn't sing
professionally. I've heard her sing and she has a lovely voice, which will
likely be quite appropriate for weddings. But she lacks the repertoire and
marketing know-how to get started.

I thought this list would be a great resource for her. I know many people
here sing at weddings and might have an extensive list of repertoire. She's
a soprano but can easily sing rep for mezzo or soprano for wedding purposes.
Any ideas are welcome - what are the most requested songs? Old standards?
Popular and classical suggestions would be great. Any particularly nice
songs which are wedding appropriate, but not necessarily on the top 10 list?
I will look through the archives as well, but would appreciate all
suggestions.

Also, and perhaps more importantly, I don't know what direction to point her
in for getting started singing at weddings. How does one market ones self
in that area? Any and all suggestions for this would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks and happy new year!
Jessica
