Yes, Laura, that was the intent of my posting. Although I love to sing just for the sake of singing, I have to admit, that singing for performance purposes was uppermost in my mind with that question. My voice is bigger than ever, but the top is shorter (I used to do the Queen of the Night and now I'm struggling for a high D; not sure if this is age-related or just use-related, ie, not singing enough). Also, I need a good teacher in NYC that understands technique. Any response to either question?

I thought the original poster (Spinto in Upstate) was asking more along = the lines of whether there was any realistic expectation of a career at = or above the level she was singing before. She was touring in a company, = singing nationally, etc. I didn't think she was asking whether or not to = keep singing.
Maybe Anne will clarify? We have had some discussions about = marketability of older beginner or returning singers, dearth of = competitions for singers older than 30 and so on. This may be more = germane to her question.
