Hi,

I know EXACTLY what you are going through. I am approaching my third year of
serious study and still have trouble performing. There was a time (not so
long ago!) when I would get so terrified that I could hardly breathe, let
alone sing! I can't tell you what the problem is or how long it will take to
subside, but I can promise that the more you perform, the easier it gets.
Private lessons are great, but if you can also get into a group singing class
at your local community college or whatever, you can get more experience just
getting up there and doing it. I sympathize completely, but don't give up!
You can only gain confidence as you go. Good luck!
