I just wanted to inquire about this because I was under the impression that
switching is very unhealthy (unless you unfortunately started off with the
wrong one!!). Perhaps you're not exactly "switching" fachs, but as your
support got stronger, you were able to successfully master higher notes.
Just a thought....

Subject: Switching fach... any survivors?

Hi all,

I'm wondering if there are any fach-switch survivors out there who would
care to talk about their experiences...

How much of a name had you made for yourself in your "old" voice category
before switching to the new? Did you switch gradually (taking on, for
example, some tenor work and some baritone work) or do a complete
"re-launch" (marketing term, like when Mercury brought out the new Cougar
last year)?

What was your teacher's role in your decision to make the switch? Any other
useful insights?
