I have found the opposite to be helpful for me. See that your note is properly "rooted" to its foundation by starting at the bottom and sliding up. A good exercise is a two octave arpeggio. You can start this as low as G below Middle C and work your way up semi-tone wise, per scale.Good for ironing out the Breaks as well. Only sing the first note in chest and mix all others.You can go back into chest on the way down, wherever the voice finds it comfortable to do so. A two octave scale also works quite well. Sometimes students don't even know how high they are managing to sing, because the high notes feel so different when they are started from the bottom. Good luck. Regards Susi RSA
