I believe Dean was simply referring to one of his voice students. All of us teachers tend to think of our students as "ours," because we invest a lot of time, energy, and emotions in their development. If I speak of "my" student, it is not about ownership -- just pride in that student's hard work and accomplishments. So brag away, Dean! You've earned the right, I am sure!
