Just to let you know, the same thing happened to me in high school. I
thought my life was over. I did, however, get my revenge later. My high
school choir director was singing in the same symphony chorale (even the same
section as I) as my college ensemble for a performance of Verdi's Requiem.
My college conductor ran the rehearsals and announced that I and my best
friend had been finalists in the Metropolitan Opera Regional Auditions that
past weekend. The look on her face was more than worth having missed out on
singing hokey arrangements of "Tie a Yellow Ribbon" for my entire senior year.
