i believe nicolai gedda has recorded the opera and alfredo kraus has, at
least, recorded the aria. kraus prides himself in performing in original keys
which, of course, is not always the standard. gedda has the same range so, i
suspect he would probably do it in the original key. if he did it in
transposition, that might indicate an all to strong standard in doing so.
