This April, I am planning my very first recital. I have invited a
baritone friend to do the Dulcamare/Nemorino Duet, a Soprano friend to
do the Nemorino/Adina duet that follows. She will sing a solo, my wife
will sing a solo, and my singing teacher may also do a solo or two. It
started as a small idea, but it has begun to blossom and grow into quite
a production. Being inexperience in such fare, I would appreciate
advise on what I need to prepare for the recital.

I will be singing about four solos on top of the duets etc. and I am
planning to have refreshments afterward. I have not settled on a
location, but I have begun to price halls. It seems that it may be
quite expensive unless I can find a hall in a university or some other
venue that is not so expensive, yet available on the date that I have
chose.

How should I handle the particulars with my chosen singers who will
accompany me? They have been very amenable to changes and ideas that I
have and have given me total control of the event, for which I am very
grateful. How far in advance should I send out invitations? Should they
include an RSVP? Would head shots in the program be exorbitant for my
first recital? Should I include translations for the songs in the
program?

So many questions, I know, but I would appreciate any advise all you may
have to offer.

Excuse me if I may take some with a grain of salt, but I will ponder all
advise and take action.

Yours ever truly,
