isabelle,
when you are lying on the floor, though it still has curves, your spine
angle is relatively straight. if you have lost weight, your former belly was
probably propping you up. now with your prop gone, you may have a tendency to
cave over. the muscles between the shoulder blades probably need tightening.
bent over rows, high rep-low weight, are probably the best for that.
if you lost weight by calorie restriction you probably lost muscle as
well, leaving you weaker than before. another thing to check would be pelvic
rotation. if you have a tendency to rotate your pelvis so that your butt
sticks out a bit and your knees lock this can sometimes make a low breath
more difficult.
or, you just may be different and the old crutches just don't work and
now need to be replaced with something better. check out Qi Gong breathing.
roughly, it is an inhalation caused by a 'gravity' drop of the belly making
inhalation quicker and easier.
hope this is helpful.
