(next-url) /submitted.html (subject) An article sent through VOCALIST home page (message) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm hoping someone can give me guidance on a problem I am having. I have never had formal voice lessons and I'm not familiar with much of the terminology -- so please bear with me!
I have always had a strong "chest" voice, but I've always used falsetto to go higher when singing. Since this past spring, however, I've somehow lost much of my "falsetto" voice but I can sing a bit higher with my "chest" voice. My falsetto voice is hoarse and I had to *really* clear my throat to get a note out.
Does this sound like a simple case of needing to rest my voice, (I sing around the house with the radio/cds - alot- and at church, but not in public), or have I started to develop my chest voice and I need to continue working on it more (perhaps with a teacher)?
Also, I've read a few of the many previous posts on this topic but in general, is there any agreement on whether it is good or bad to sing falsetto?
Thanks, Mrs. ML ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
