Tina, you have asked a question to which we all had the answer. You are
only 13 and you already know you love to sing. Start from that point.
Others may disagree but I do not think you are too young for a GOOD voice
teacher. That may take some research - calling people, telling them about
yourself & finding someone who understands about a young voice and someone
who does not believe that screaming and humiliating students is the same as
teaching. Also, I would advise that you keep singing - all around the
house - in choirs - at church, school, anyplace. If you have a chance to
sing before an audience, do that also. Again, retirement homes, nursing
homes would love to have young people come and sing. You could do this
without a piano - just your voice or you could you taped piano. This takes
special effort on your part - to be able to relate to older people but it
will strengthen you. You could also sing for small children in day care
centers and other places. It is a ball and that also helps your self
esteem. Please keep us posted about your singing. When I was 13, I had no
idea that I could sing but I knew I LOVED to sing. Good for you. Nora
