Dear List: My voice teacher wants to incorporate Marchesi vocal exercises into our weekly lessons. She can't remember what version of the book she used when she was in conservatory, so I'm trying to find a copy that will work for us. I have some general questions. Is Marchesi a proponet of the Bel Canto school of thought? I only ask b/c one version of her book has Bel Canto: A practical and theoretical guide. I've seen several books that bare her name and all say exercises or vocalises. I know I'm supposed to purchase one for the beginning level, but which one is intended for beginners? Also, none of them seem to have a tape to accompany the book, is it supposed to have one ? I've seen the Dover version and although less inexpensive, it doesn't seem the best copy. Last ? Obviously there are different schools of music, how can I find out about each type?
Thanks Alia
