Hi, Amy!
Welcome back! One of my favorite Art Songs in English is The Lass from the Low Countree by John Jacob Niles. It is the first to come to mind, though I'm sure I'll think of more as soon as I post this.
Rosy Freudenstein, whose mezzo mind is handicapped by lack of sleep due to long tech rehearsals of Boris Godunov this week
PS. Aha! The mind kicked in in spite of itself! Also try to find Peace by Bennie Beach, and December Lark by Robert Kreutz in Contemporary American Songs, compiled and edited by Bernard Taylor, published by Summy-Birchard Company in Evanston, Illinois. I include all this information because the last time anybody I know was looking for this book, it was out of print. Good luck!
