Good Luck, Barbara

Thank you to everyone who has offered opinions on this topic. It has been
very helpful.

To answer Barbara's questions, first, I'm referring to a very generalized
audition for a summer program of opera and musical theatre. So it's a
question of putting my best foot forward, not going for a specific role.

I'm not young, but can pass for young [OK--I'll fess up: I'm 30 but I look
like I'm 24] and am definitely probably more suited to ingenue-type roles.
I would never describe myself as "Earth Mother" (and no one else would
either!), but have played a lot of "strong" characters as well. I have an
upcoming performance of G&S "Iolanthe", in which I play Iolanthe. Perfect
role, 'cause she's not a ditsy fairy, nor the overbearing Queen. She has a
certain maturity, but requires a youthful look as well. Physically, I'm
small by opera standards (and very short), but I have the chest of an opera
singer, which discludes me from the trend of skinny rake-like actors....

So based on that, any advice you can offer would be of great help!

Thanks.
