Hello list!

I am new to the list, but not to singing. I have a BM
from Eastman ('91) and a MM from University of Arizona
('93). I have been living in my home town of St.
Paul, Minnesota for the past 5 years trying
desparately to get a career going with little luck.
After spending the Summer of 1999 at the
Franz-Schubert-Insitut in Baden bei Wien, Austria, I
decided that I really HAVE to do something about it.
I am 30 years old and not getting any younger. I have
found a teacher in Chicago who I am really excited
about, and I plan to move there in May to work with
him and to sing for people. I am a soprano (the Fach
is still a little in question, but the new teacher
definitely thinks dramatic coloratura - I'm currently
working on Fiordiligi among other things).

What I'm wondering is a) does anyone have ideas about
WHO to sing for or WHERE to go for audition listings?
and b) does anyone have ideas about "day" jobs, since
I will still need to eat. (I'm currently working at a
title insurance company which takes a lot of time and
energy for a business I care nothing about.)

Thanks for any information you have!

Lisa-Marie
