Hi Bryant!

As for a cheap room, you'll find any number of Motel 6 type hotels in town,
particularly around the airport (which is about 15-20 minutes south of
downtown).

Several of the theaters are dark right now --- a lot of things closed with
the holidays.
However, a few good things are going on.

"Noises Off" is playing at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater (box office
224-9490)
This is a really fine company.

"Forever Plaid" is running at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts (box
office 273-7206) This is an out-of-town production company that has been
running this show for a few months.

The Milwaukee Symphony is performing the 7th & 8th with the Symphony Chorus
and organist Thomas Murray--music of Brahms & Copeland (box office: 291-7605)

There are also a couple of small companies, studio theaters etc, that have
things going on, but most of the large companies have shows opening the 3rd
or 4th weekend of January, so this weekend is pretty lean.

Other things you may want to see are the Milwaukee Art Museum (which has a
particularly wonderful modern art collection) or the Milwaukee Public Museum,
a museum of natural history. The Zoo is also pretty great, although I've
never been there in the winter (they are open year round).

Hope you find some fun things to do!
