If you decide to pursue the Burleigh connection, it may interest you to know
that in addition to the many wonderful arrangements of spirituals, Burleigh
also wrote art songs. The group I am acquainted with is 5 songs on poems by
Laurence Hope and they are beautiful indeed. There are other groups as well
but I don't have the information handy. A good resource is Victoria
Villamil's Guide to American Art Song.
