Well, one thing to fire back at people who speak techno jargon is to say something like, "well thank you for your information about the CDR and the MP3 as opposed to WAV and the advice about my ISP, but before we go any further with this discussion we need to take the TLA out of the equation".
If they then ask "what's a TLA?" you answer "THREE LETTER ACRONYM!"
Sorry Karl, that bit of shouting was not aimed directly at you. I've been speaking techno babble long enough to have not been confused by your post at all, but us techno people do need to remember that TLA's are very heavily used in the computing world and that it is hard enough for technical people to keep up with them all, let alone anyone else.

I would imagine that most people who have the technology to create a CD version would also have the technology to transfer from tape to CD.
You can count me in as someone who has the technology and I am willing and happy to help if needed.
