Ok! This is my first question! I'm a twenty-five year old baritone and I've been struggling with my upper register from about D4 up. Apparently, according to a friend of mine who is an older and much more mature singer than I, there is a way to sort of yawn up and hook into the high notes leading possibly to an A4, B4, or even C5 for a high baritone. He claims this "hook" is evident in recordings of a famous singer by the name of Sherrill Milnes (did I spell that right?) who I have never heard. #1 the only way I can even sing these notes is to switch into falsetto- which my voice does at E4 or F4 regardless of whether I want it to or not. #2 My friend demonstrated this hook by switching from falsetto into this ringing head tone for me but I can't seem to reproduce it! #3 My falsetto is great but it's all my voice seems to want to do on top although I suspect there's a lot more sound there if I can just figure out how to access it! So here are my questions- #1 Is anyone else here familiar with this dilemma (I need my high notes but can't figure out how to get them out)? #2 Does anyone have any suggestions of vocal excercises that might help me strengthen/find my top? Thanks guys! I eagerly await your replies! Jeremy D.
