I - General Information
=======================
VOCALIST was started as a plain mailing list on September the 12th, 1994
and was sited on the Oulu University Mailing List Server 'lists.oulu.fi'
in Finland. Many of the original members of this Internet community are
still subscribing the list.
Today we have a web/list server of our own, VOCALIST.ORG. There are over
800 subscribers to the regular and digested (VOCALIST-DIGEST) versions
of the list. More than 3000 hits are made to the VOCALIST WWW pages.
Among the hundreds of VOCALIST members there are lots of professional
singers, students, choir singers, physicians, voice therapists etc. The
mailing list along with the VOCALIST Archives have proven to be an
excellent source of information on topics such as:
- repertoire, technique and interpretation in different styles
- auditioning tecnique; getting job opportunities
- teaching and studying singing; working with a coach
- working with an accompanist or a director
- preparing to a recital; training; tips for voice
- various and sundry - you name it!

III a) VOCALIST mailing list
To subscribe to the VOCALIST mailing list, please send email to:

and in the body of the message write:

To subscribe to the VOCALIST-DIGEST (single messages in one big
email newsletter; comes out 1-2 times a day), please send email to:

III c) VOCALIST Database / Internet Search
VOCALIST archives combined with the weekly Harvest WWW gatherer
updates from relevant music sites all over the world are known
as the 'VOCALIST Database'. The VOCALIST Database Search makes
it possible to look up certain keywords from the database and
locate a lost article or a thread on some topic that raises
questions.

III d) Email forwarding services at VOCALIST.ORG
It is now possible to get a VOCALIST email address that forwards
your email to your current email account provided by your ISP,
employer or school/university.
