What would be any long term effects from such activity as cheerleading?
Thx!

Hee hee hee, I finally have some input for everyone! Cheerleading and
singing definitely do not mix, that's for sure. I am a Senior in High School who was on Cheer and in Choir. The constant incorrect screaming and yelling can seriously hurt your voice. I had to bow out of four performances while I was cheering so I just decided to quit after football ended and since then I have been vocal strain free! Long term wise, cheerleading could probably mess up your voice because it's so hard on it, etc, etc, etc. But yeah, it's just a matter of priority. I figured it wasn't worth the sore throats and missed performances to gain some popularity and ride on the bus with all the smelly guys. I've found other ways of supporting my school's sports teams by being score keeper, manager, first aid person and also the National Anthem singer at quite a few home games. Feel free to email me privately if you want to talk any more.
