The first selection Danilo sings might be more to your liking. It would probably be titled 'Fatherland'. It is more of a comedic song than Maxim's, all about his version of life as a diplomat.

Could anyone suggest some good selections from Operettas. I am a light lyric Baritone undergrad. My voice teacher wanted me to learn "Maxim's" from "The Merry Widow," but I really don't like the song that much. I love the songs from "The Student Prince," but I don't know if they are too high for me. Ideally I want a song that is fun to perform and is well written.
Thanks, Jason
