Typo on my part - I meant to type "Mother", i.e., Anna Maurrant - dramatic soprano. And I have now found conflicting Weill intentions; in one source, he calls Rose a "lyric soprano" (Anna is a dramatic), in another he calls her a "mezzo soprano" and calls Anna merely a "soprano".
Both recordings I've heard, however, cast a lyric mezzo as Rose.
