i have a feeling that what we refer to as maturing is actually oxidation. and i don't think the decline of voices is evenly distributed. i think as women's voices reach the mid to late 40s, they are not as appreciated the way men's voices are at the same age. why is a wrinkle on a man's face taken differently than on a woman's face? i, for one, however, will take mirella freni at 60, claire bloom in 'brideshead revisited' and grape juice after its had a couple of years to go bad in an oak barrel.
