Hi everyone,
I am entering an Art Song Competition that is being held at my university. I
need six songs and from these I need to cover Classical, Romantic and 20th
century as well as a living composer.
My question is this...would you consider Debussy a Romantic or 20th century
composer. There has been some differences in opinion so I thought I would
ask all of you.
Also, would a Handel aria such as Va Godendo be considered an art song. I
know that while I was doing my undergraduate work I was able to use this
song as an art song at a NATS competition but I wasn't sure if I could use
it again in this competition...
