In what way?

For many auditions, the panel will be looking for one to be singing in one's
correct fach (vocal category). A lot of judges are prejudiced as to what
they consider the acceptable voice for a particular role. If they feel you
are singing something that is too heavy for your voice or age, your
evaluation will suffer accordingly. They are also often narrow-minded about
what they feel is a suitable audition piece. Although they are most often
distressed by arias with which they are not extremely familiar, they also
have a mental list of audition pieces for each voice type that they expect to
hear, somewhat of a standard list of repertoire for audition.

You will probably find that you'll need to tailor your repertoire list for
the particular audition. What is appropriate for an opera audition may not
be what you'll want to sing for graduate school entrance.

On the other hand, always sing what you feel shows your voice to its best
advantage, and that with which you are most comfortable. Sometimes you might
even be able to crack the panel's perception a bit!
