Hi everyone:
Please don't take this the wrong way but aren't you all
just a little sick of the Charlotte Church discussion.
She's a kid with a potentially great instrument who
is being marketed to death and therefore becoming
famous. Some of us like her; others don't. We have
been criticizing her to one level or another for quite a
while now and the facts don't change. She's still famous
and singing professionally. As a teacher I do point out
her chin wobble as a tension problem to my students
without sounding like sour grapes but so that they know
that someone who cuts a CD or sings on MTV or Much
Music isn't a "god" of music. They just happened to
make it in the public eye for whatever reason. If we
continue to discuss Charlotte Church's voice let's
talk about the pleasing qualities and how they might
be achieved and ways of dealing with the chin wobble
thing and how we as singers and/or teachers can make
darn sure that we don't have that bad vocal habit when we
sing. This posting is NOT meant to criticize any individual
or previous posting just the subject in general. Maybe it's
just me but I'm becoming bored with it at it's current level.
Anyone want to elevate the discussion to another level...
groovy!
