Hi Kyle,
It is great, go for it. I have sung at a Nursing Home here in Vancouver 3 times and it is great. They will love you for it. In each case of the 3 times I was not the one who set it up, it was set up by a fellow that used to accompany me. It was done thru the Recreation or Activities Director (not
sure which).

I would find out who that is at whatever Nursing Home you would like to perform at and contact them.

Each time I did this we put together some sort of a theme. The first time it was for a gentlemans birthday who was over 100 and from England, so we put together some songs from England from the wars and some pub songs and the like. The second time it was for a lady who was over 100 and used to be
an Opera Singer in her youth (very briefly, she lost her voice in a boating acident in her early 20s). She liked Puccini alot (Madama Butterly in particular (that was a role she had played)) so we put together a show with Puccini arias for her and some Neapolitan stuff. Everyone was very
appreciative and liked it.

My accompanist and myself have been paid anywhere from $50.00 (split between us) to $100.00 each.

You have to remember that these people don't get out much or have much entertainment anymore and something like this - well they will just eat it up.

I am sure you will have to come up with your own accompanist (which is better as you can reherse) and I would think that there would be a piano at a place like that (there was here), but that is something to check out.

Good luck Kyle and have fun. Let us at the List know what happens.
