For what it's worth, I agree with Jessica. I find listening to Mariah Carey very tiresome. Sure, she can hit lots of notes, but I wish she would not try to hit as many of them as possible in each bar. I liken her to a saxophonist who has learned how to hit high notes above the natural range of the saxophone, but who has not yet got the maturity to know what to do with them other than to keep throwing super high notes around because he/she can. Technical ability does not equal musical beauty, although technical ability used beautifully can be an exquisite thing.
