Dear singers out there, I am a Bass-Baritone and while generally I am very happy with my progress and my voice (and so are audiences in the performances I give), it is taking me what seems to me ages to cross the barriere from F# to G in my highs. I can sing a top F# at almost anytime and a G during practising, but when it comes to those real long "Verdi" G's, something blocks me and I just cannot make it. I simply cannot find the right way into the tone. Now I know that for a Bass Baritone a top G is not always needed, but I know that it helps a lot if you have a safe one "in your pocket", only if it is to throw in one or the other in a cadenza.
I should add that I have very good depths (down to the Sarastro-E on a good day) and sometimes I wonder whether I should not become a Basso profondo....
If anyone has any advice to offer, thanks in advance.
