as being a "clarion tenor" (can't remember who they
were talking about right now). I've heard and read
about quite a few tenor classifications before, but
"clarion tenor" is new to me. Does anyone know what
range and vocal quality is meant by this
classification?"

Are you sure the tenor wasn't being described as a "carrion" tenor? ;o)

I've come across a few over the years who might fit that label...
