I think I might be in the "originally wrong" category. My first teacher
was wonderful, but she had this delusion that I was a baby coloratura
soprano. (This is immensely funny to anyone who knows me. Coloratura I
ain't, in any fach)

It was a TREMENDOUS relief when my next teacher allowed me (beg, beg, plead,
plead,) to explore some mezzo literature - and all of a sudden here was music
that flowed from where MY voice lived! Ain't never gone back to the
stratosphere. I'm waaaay too happy.
