Hi: We have a saying at our studio that applies to this whole thread of discussion regarding young singers and who they imitate. I always ask my students this question.... Do you want to be a poor copy of (name of star they try to sound like) or an awesome original (their name)? Usually, they opt for awesome original. We also discuss that no matter how much they try to copy their favorite star they can NEVER be that person. Their own unique physical structure dictates that they will sound different. Imitation, however, is a form of flattery and I'm sure we've all done it (sub-consciously) of course..hahahaha Jacqueline
