Trinity College(London),The Associated Board of Royal Schools and UNISA
(University of South Africa) will not accept examination candidates (or
their accompanists) playing from photocopies and will fail those items
which are not played from originals. They do , however, seem to accept
HANDWRITTEN copies, which is a help if you have an original in the wrong
key and a photocopy in the correct key.Usually songs are only a few pages
long and it is a good exercise for singersto copy their songs by hand (if
you can pursuade them to do this) Otherwise there is always someone around
who could do with some pocket-money.
Having to buy an entire anthology for one song is definitely a pain, even
for us teachers!
