Molly,

The trick to getting through an unpleasant undergraduate music course isn't
to transfer (you'll probably find the same thing elsewhere - it's a story
that's very familiar), but to take the long term view. What do you need to
do to have a career? To still be singing by the time you're 30, 40, 50...
Get the best technique you can, and as much repertoire as you can, and use
every available undergraduate resource going. Don't worry about the
day-to-day politics, as it's a trap that will stop you working on your voice
(though I know that's easier said than done).

The only thing you really must ask yourself is if this girl got the part
because she was the best. Go and look at the final production - who knows,
she might have got cast because she matched the rest of the ensemble better
than anyone else. It's surprising what can get someone the gig - and it's
sometimes not necessarily who has the best voice.

There's nothing worse than hitting 30 and wishing you'd done more practice,
or put more into it, rather than being stopped at the first post. Trust me!
