Dear Spinto,
If it's any inspiration to you, most of my voice students are older adults. I started my studio about three years ago, thinking that most of the people who would be interested in lessons would be college-bound high schoolers.
Three years later I have five students forty and over, one student in her thirties, two students in their twenties, one college student, one high-schooler, and two middle schoolers. I find that I really enjoy my adult students because they are very motivated, know exactly what they'd like to get out of lessons, and they are self-directed. They are more willing to experiment than my teenagers are--they're not afraid to take risks and try something new.
So, from a teacher's viewpoint, I say go for it. Even if things don't go perfectly, I think you'd always wonder what if... if you don't try. Good luck;May God be with you. Cathy Ardrey
