What I meant by my post is, since these two teachers are now very well known
and have full studios, with many singers in mid-career, it might be
strategic for a quite young singer to achieve a certain level of technical
proficiency before approaching such "star" teachers, in order to make the
most of their special gifts. Many good teachers can help a gifted beginner
build the basis of a technique; extraordinary teachers are better
approached, IMHO, once the singer has a good basic technique and is really
ready to take flight. (It is also more likely that a "star" teacher's
musical connections will be of help to a more proficient, more career-ready
singer.)

Just my opinion. Indeed, Dolora Z. was a beginner when she started with
Puffer; but remember, he had not yet built the remarkable reputation he now
has, either.
