This is excellent advice!
Also when I went to apply for grad school in cs and told them I had a CS BS they practically roled out the carpet. Of those who did their masters there at that time only about 10% of us had CS undergrad degrees. I expect this is still true; the CS BS guys hit the job market and start making $, they don't take more classes.
Trying to get a feel for cs before you burn any bridges is a real good idea. It is not easy to earn a cs degree. The good thing is that most people seem to find out pretty quickly that they can do it and like it, or not.
