Actually your body produces its own natural form of nicotine and cigs drastically increase that chemical. It takes about six weeks for it to return to normal levels once you quit. But the habit of doing something with your hands seems to be the hardest part (for me anyway) to deal with. Social smoking is also a difficulty I have had problems with in quitting. Those "cold" symptoms that seem to occur after you stop smoking is also your body's way of returning your immune system to normal. It takes a while but eventually it subsides (bout 3 weeks for me).
Good luck Laura
