When I sang in the national semi-finals of the NFMC Young Artist Awards Auditions in 1975, I was given very discouraging judges' comments by two very famous singers (whom I much admired and respected). Obviously, I did not let their remarks slow me down in the slightest! I did keep them handy and read them from time to time, but I definitely adopted an "I'll show them!" attitude. And I did. :)
